the western wall

The western wall is a wall in Jerusalem and is the most visited place of pilgrimage in Jerusalem. The western wall was built by king Herod in 20 BC. It was a part of the second temple before it was destroyed. After the temple was destroyed inn 70 AD the chief Jew it became his place of pilgrimage where he mourned over the destruction of the temple. It used to be in an alleyway only twelve feet wide and could only fit a few hundred Jews at a time if they were really squished. In 1967 after the six day war the Israelites destroyed the Arab district next to the wall to make more space for the western wall.
