Hadrians wall

http://bit.ly/2kAhhir
Hadrian wall is a wall that runs through England from coast to coast. It was built and used by the roman empire, we do not know the exact reason it was built because documents on it were lost in history but there are theories that it was an expression of power the natives.

It was built during Hadrians rule over Rome and his biographer stated that he was the first to build an 80 mile long wall. The wall was also used for defensive purposes to repel the barbarians in the north.

The walls thickness and height varied during the construction of the wall. Originally the west portion of the wall was built from turf but it was later rebuilt in stone. It was made from stone bricks and measures at 3 metres wide and 5-6 metres high on the side east to the river Irthing. When it was made of turf in the west the wall was 6 metres wide and 3.5 metres tall.
